Water is a powerful and spiritual element in our world. Water can be destructive yet calm and soothing. The images here are rivers, oceans, lakes, and reservoirs that are artistic and curious. From Fool Hollow Arizona to McCall Idaho, the mystery of water is examined in detail.
While parts of Arizona are desert, there are many lakes of varied color and size throughout the state. One of my favorites is Fool Hollow, which just a few miles from the city of Show Low. Legends goes that Thomas Jefferson Adair started the town of Adair in this area (Adair is now at the bottom of the lake). Locals joked that only a fool would farm the area, and the name stuck. Fool Hollow is operated by the Arizona State Parks Department as a campground and water sports activity park.
The Blue Ridge Reservoir is located about 30 miles from the town of Strawberry along the Mogollon Rim in Arizona. The most beautiful aspect of this lake is the growth of pines and the green pasture that comes right up to the lake shoreline.
